Unfortunately, there are many things in this world that can threaten the health and strength of your smile. Along with many dental issues, a fast-paced lifestyle can do this as well. So, if you live this kind of life, it’s important to keep your teeth, gums, and oral health in mind so you can maintain the top-notch smile you deserve.

One of the main reasons why a fast-paced life is so detrimental to the smile is because you often have no time to eat solid meals. This results in grabbing a quick protein bar, muffin, and soda in the vending machine or at the gas station. Usually, these foods have high amounts of sugar, carbohydrates, and acid, which are all substances that create enamel erosion and tooth decay. So, it’s important to eat solid, tooth-healthy meals and snacks as often as possible. You can do this by making a breakfast, lunch, and dinner before you go to bed the night before or by budgeting time out of your day to eat. All in all, it’s better to eat tooth-healthy things like fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.

To help you strengthen your smile and lessen the chances of having enamel erosion and cavities, our dentist, Dr. Cindy Wassif, encourages you to take advantage of fluoride. This means you need to brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, rinse once a day with fluoride mouthwash, receive a professional fluoride treatment every six months, and drink plenty of fluoridated water. Another tip is to make sure your teeth have enough exposure to fluoride by placing fluoride toothpaste along your gumline before bed at night. Let the toothpaste sit there and soak into your teeth as you sleep.
